Hope birthed from heartache
I.S.G.O.D. (Identity, Significance, Goal, Occupation, Destiny) is a peer support community founded by Edwin and Linda Frates after losing their beloved daughter Lesly to the tragedy of suicide at just 13 years old.
Having experienced immense grief and the search for meaning after Lesly's passing, Edwin and Linda recognized the need for a judgment-free space where others struggling with mental health challenges could find hope, empathy and understanding.
Led by Edwin and Linda, I.S.G.O.D. aims to provide help, hope and improvement to individuals battling conditions like depression, suicidal ideation, anxiety, bipolar disorder and more. Through coming together to openly share personal experiences, members are able to establish connections, trust, and credibility as they realize they are not alone.
Key discussion topics include signs of depression, warning signs of self-harm, techniques for managing mood swings, overcoming bullying, and exploring scripture for comfort and wisdom. Meetings focus on building resilience, developing healthy coping mechanisms, gaining perspective, and instilling a willingness to keep living day-by-day with faith in a brighter tomorrow.
While all are welcome, I.S.G.O.D. utilizes Christian teachings and faith as a foundation for support. By sharing struggles, fears, and victories together in a confidential setting, the group provides the empathy, guidance, and unconditional love needed to find wholeness.
I.S.G.O.D. meets every Tuesday evening at 7pm. For more information on joining this mental health support community, please contact Edwin and Linda directly at (956) 703-2055 or (956) 313-8313.
